Many market observers see developments in
human capital technologies mirroring trends in
the consumer world. The increasing use of social
and professional networks to stay connected,
the greater adoption of digital workflows and the
growing comfort with technology to fulfill a wide
variety of needs are dictating functionality. For some
organizations, the rapid pace of change has been
challenging. In fact, 53% of human capital leaders tell
us digital transformation is moving too fast and they
are having trouble keeping up with it.

Ilonka Jankovich, venture partner with the Randstad
Innovation Fund, which has invested in a number of
human capital technology startups, says companies
should be ready to budget more for critical skills
in demand: "Consumer and business technology
is transforming the labor market so quickly that
employers face tremendous pressure to adapt to
today's digital transformation. To keep up, they will
have to continually invest in digital skills to support the
innovations they bring into the organization."
Most employers who participated in the 2017 Talent
Trends survey agree that digital resources are an
enabler for their organization — and not just to improve
internal processes, but also business growth. In fact,
three-quarters say having more of these kinds of
resources will lead to greater opportunities for
their organizations.
