Artificial intelligence (AI) is driving change throughout the recruitment industry, reshaping every step of the hiring process. Bots can scan social media profiles for good hiring matches. Video interviews can be analyzed with algorithms that measure facial expressions, word choice and gestures. AI can replicate manual HR tasks like candidate screening into repeatable processes. It’s a brave new world for startups and established industry players alike.

“I think ‘Robot Process Automation’ is the next big thing, which means everything that can be automated will be automated,” says Jim Stroud, global head of sourcing and recruiting strategy for the Randstad Sourceright Talent Innovation Center. “My hope is that [we are able to] recognize the dangers of unchecked algorithms.”
