People Matters: tackle skill shortages in the life sciences sector.

Talent scarcity continues to plague the life sciences sector, which has consistent hiring needs to keep up with growth and innovation. One-third (33%) of industry leaders surveyed in Randstad Sourceright’s Talent Trends life sciences and pharma sector research agree that finding talent is a major pain point.

The current talent shortage is the result of a combination of intense hiring during the pandemic and fierce competition from neighboring sectors, such as IT and communications, which are also recruiting for leading-edge tech and engineering skills. 

Two-thirds (67%) of the life sciences leaders are implementing reskilling and upskilling strategies for their current employees. This is in an effort to address their immediate talent needs in the face of widespread scarcity and competition.
