Streamline recruitment process for higher efficiency
With operations across more than 20 countries in EMEA, this leading life sciences company has a large number of roles to fill every year.
As the talent acquisition teams were spending a lot of time on scheduling interviews and other administrative tasks, the company saw an opportunity to streamline these tasks and take the pressure off recruiters to allow them to focus on more strategic initiatives.
Centralizing a strong talent management team
The company implemented candidate management services to support internal talent acquisition and local HR teams. These candidate management services centralize interview scheduling, temp-to-perm transactions, travel booking, reference checking, medical clearance, managing onboarding and working student recruitment.
Building upon an existing talent solutions partnership with Randstad Sourceright, the candidate management services complement to life sciences leader’s existing recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) program.
Leveraging Randstad Sourceright’s shared services recruitment center in Budapest, Hungary, the RPO took on interview scheduling in three countries in 2016. Encouraged by the success of this program, the service was extended to 12 countries in 2017, and 20 countries in 2018.
The candidate management team of 18 is able to communicate in several languages, including German, French, Spanish, Arabic and English, among others. This strategy helps create a consistent approach across all locations in the region, supporting both the RPO and internal talent acquisition teams on scheduling interviews for all roles. In 2020, the team also took on administrative tasks associated with student recruitment and onboarding for internship roles to further enhance the candidate experience.
Focus on value-add initiatives and better recruitment experience
With this new approach to candidate management, about 15,000 interviews are scheduled by the team across 20 countries each year.
With time saved on administrative tasks, talent advisors and recruiters are able to focus on more strategic activities and deliver a better recruitment experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
Candidates scored the interview scheduling process on average 3.8 out of 4 across EMEA. Recruiters have also been very satisfied with the streamlined process, rating the support received at 3.6 out of 4.
In 2020, with the rise in demand for life sciences professionals due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 4,700 interviews were scheduled in Q1 2020, an increase of 52% compared to Q1 2019. This helps the organization meet increased demand for talent during a truly critical time.
With lockdown measures and restrictions in place in many countries, the RPO deployed digital tools and video interviewing quickly to avoid any recruitment disruption. In fact, the RPO continued to improve service quality, with time to offer in the U.K. reduced from 33 days in 2019 to 29 days in 2020.
