MPO: a robust DEI strategy is more important than ever.

September 7, 2022 Tania De Decker

MedTech companies with strong diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) strategies can have a huge competitive advantage when recruiting top-quality talent. Not only are candidates considering the DEI policies of their prospective employers, but those with leading practices tend to perform better overall in the market.

Randstad Sourceright’s 2022 Talent Trends life sciences and pharma sector report finds that 63% of leaders believe that evident and embedded DEI practices make a difference to candidates. Fifty-seven percent (57%) also say that their business benefits across the board from having a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

Tania de Decker, managing director of Global Strategic Accounts for Randstad Enterprise Group, recommends three strategies for companies committed to growing their DEI efforts. Investing in talent partnerships is the first step: “Diversity talent groups ranging from The Mom Project to OneTen can help employers source, hire, retain, and advance diverse talent.”

de Decker also advises that employers use inclusive language in job postings, and avoid biases, such as age and gender, which could discourage qualified talent. Additionally, she suggests that companies reconsider college requirements for hiring; the reason being that “diverse talent are increasingly exploring credentialing institutions that are alternatives to four-year colleges.”
