HRDive: HR technology may have helped job numbers rebound.

After a September marked by hurricane-related job losses, October saw an increase in job numbers. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that unemployment held steady at 4.1%, a figure widely viewed as nearing full employment.

One reason for the swift rebound from September to October is the HR industry’s ongoing adoption of sophisticated recruiting technologies. Rebecca Henderson, CEO of Randstad Sourceright, suggests that employers were able to move quickly to fill jobs by leveraging technology in what continues to be a tight talent market.

The demographics of joblessness remain largely unchanged, however. People of color continue to trend higher in unemployment. HR technology can help in this regard as well, with tools that support diversity hiring.
