HR Dive: employers optimistic about 2019, despite economic uncertainty.

January 23, 2019

While some economists and employment experts predict that another recession is possible in 2019, business leaders around the world are optimistic about what lies ahead.

Randstad Sourceright’s Talent Trends research surveyed more than 800 human capital leaders around the globe on their growth in 2018 and expectations for the year ahead. Our 2019 Business Health Index finds that the the majority of the 17 surveyed markets report optimism about today’s business climate.

Based on key factors, including business growth, hiring and the political environment, the U.K., Germany, Australia and Japan score the highest in our index this year. The U.S., while still positive, scores at the lower end of the index.

What does this mean for recruiting? HR Dive suggests that employers can expect that job seekers will still have the upper hand in 2019’s labor market. Talent leaders and hiring managers will need to keep their recruitment strategies focused on both attracting skilled talent to the organization, but also on delivering an exceptional experience for candidates and employees alike.
