Forbes: prioritize workforce transformation in a recession.

With the potential of an economic recession on the horizon, uncertainty is creating an opportunity for workforce transformation. Rebecca Henderson, executive board member of Randstad and CEO of Global Businesses,  agrees that the time period we have been in for the past two years has certainly been transformational for the workplace.

The current environment, however, is the opportune time for organizations to remove status quo thinking and rethink outdated talent strategies in an effort that not only creates a buffer against a recession, but also prepares them for eventual growth.

“A really transformational approach involves redesigning jobs and work, adopting a total life cycle approach to talent and driving workforce agility,” writes Henderson. “A holistic approach is critical. Economic cycles come and go, but the need for talent is never ending.”

Employers have an opportunity to redefine when, how and where work is done to better meet candidate demands. This is also a moment to hone in on upskilling, reskilling and career coaching — as workforce readiness and agility can help drive success, regardless of uncertainty.
