The digitalization of HR appears to exert a tremendous influence on the outlook of many human capital leaders

As many realize the benefits of this transformative wave, they are also envisioning new ways of delivering consistent, higher-quality services throughout the organization. More importantly, they see it as a continuing event that will affect HR down the road.

Along the same lines, artificial intelligence and robotics are seen as a contributing development to the resources available to many organizations. Across all the major sectors we surveyed, respondents were optimistic about technology’s effect on the business, with two-thirds viewing robotics in a positive light.

Some human capital leaders were concerned about the impact on job losses, but overall most cited reasons such as reduced costs, higher quality and greater output as the benefits of automation.

Three takeaways

  1. Digitalization and automation are rapidly transforming how businesses are executing and considering their need for talent
  2. The rise of gig workers and other contingent talent will have a greater impact on company agility in the future
  3. A skills gap will also grow as workers displaced by technology lack the skills needed in the increasingly digital economies of the world
