HR Reporter: 4 in 5 Canadian employers considering permanent work-from-home policies.

There’s good news for remote workers in Canada as 84% of employers say that a permanent work-from-home policy is on the table. Almost 90% of these same employers, who were surveyed by Randstad Sourceright, say their talent strategies are now more focused on workforce agility than ever before.

"You can't achieve the business agility needed to thrive in today's world without an agile workforce," says Jean-Francois Vezina, executive vice president, head of Canada at Randstad Sourceright.

However, finding workers remains a challenge as the nation’s largest employers struggle with talent scarcity. In response, 54% of Canadian employers are increasing their talent budgets, and 63% are looking at total talent management model to improve staffing.

“If you've built a contingent workforce, your business is already experiencing some of the benefits,” says Vezina. “But you're going to have to take a more holistic approach to talent acquisition to get ahead."

Recruitment and retention strategies are also in focus for employers, as are diversity and inclusion initiatives. They are also investing in HR technology, with 84% focusing on talent analytics. The advantages of AI and machine learning are also picking up speed as employers seek a competitive edge.
