PharmExec: building the pharma talent of tomorrow.

October 11, 2022 Alp Perahya

Life sciences and pharma companies continue to experience a talent shortage, which, in turn, is slowing down opportunities for ongoing growth and innovation. Randstad Sourceright’s 2022 Talent Trends sector research shows that 33% of leaders feel talent scarcity is a major pain point. This is increasingly the case as competition for desirable skill sets rises — including AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity and data science.

Alp Perahya, executive vice president, integrated MSP at Randstad Sourceright offers four tips for sourcing and developing life sciences and pharma talent. Reskilling and upskilling should be a high priority, as should investing in the overall talent experience, hiring contingent talent and exploring other non-traditional roles.

This is also an opportunity for employers to align their talent strategies with their diversity, equity and inclusion objectives. The Talent Trends research finds this as a key area for improvement, as only 41% of survey participants in the sector say their hiring practices supported their diversity goals last year.
