SIA: diversity initiatives help close the gender gap.

February job numbers in the U.S. indicate a strong continued growth trajectory for the nation. The news came with an upsurge in temporary help services jobs, which saw a year-over-year increase of 4.15%. Another 806,000 individuals were also added to the labor force, as the unemployment rate for women reached record-breaking lows.

Rebecca Henderson, CEO of Randstad Sourceright, shared comments during International Women’s Day on March 8. Citing U.S. Labor Department data, she reminds us that women who work full-time are still earning only 82% of their male counterparts, on average. Furthermore, only 20% of C-level positions in the nation are held by female executives.

“Our recent survey found that 53% of employers recognize the significant benefits of having more women in leadership positions, and are implementing diversity initiatives that improve hiring strategies and close the gender gap,” Henderson said. “On the heels of International Women’s Day, U.S. employers should continue to prioritize these efforts and press for sustained change.”
