Even in an unpredictable economy, nearly half (45%) of employees are open to new career opportunities and many are in active searches, according to Randstad’s 2023 Workmonitor survey. In fact, just one-third (33%) say they are not looking for a new job.

That’s why retention and internal mobility are essential to sustainable talent strategies. According to Randstad Enterprise’s 2023 Talent Trends research, about two-thirds (65%) of talent leaders say retention positively impacts their company. And that number jumps to 71% among life sciences companies.

According to Janet Mertens, senior vice president of research for the Josh Bersin Company, a leading HR analyst firm, “Internal mobility is hard, it's really hard, because of the technology, because of the process, but it’s also hard because of the culture piece.”
