HRM Asia: CHROs are at the helm of Industry 4.0.

August 20, 2019

The new world of work is characterized by digital disruption, the gig economy, a widening skills gap and a rush to prepare for jobs that don’t even exist yet. These factors and more are pressing to elevate HR into a more analytical, data-driven discipline.

“If your organization is not able to attract, develop and retain new skills, your business will almost certainly be disrupted,” warns Anthea Collier, managing director of Randstad Sourceright in Asia-Pacific.

CHROs in Asia are the forefront of these changes, looking ahead for new ways to survive and thrive in changing times. The norms of the past have been upended. Workers are adapting and seeking out non-traditional opportunities that continue to emerge. Some employers are responding, hiring independent contractors as well as permanent roles.

Randstad Sourceright’s 2019 Talent Trends research shows that 60% of the workforce are open to non-traditional work arrangements and “agile” careers. But how can procurement and HR leaders manage the complexities while reaping the benefits of a larger talent pool?

Our 2019 research also finds that employers are looking at talent management more holistically — they’re thinking about how to best hire for the work, not just specific roles. Read more in HRM Asia to understand the role of technology and talent analytics in helping CHROs drive this shift within their organizations.
