Forbes: virtualizing workers democratizes employment.

October 6, 2020 Rebecca Henderson

The coronavirus pandemic has changed the world of work. As remote working has become the norm for the foreseeable future, businesses have the opportunity to rethink their talent strategies and acquire top candidates from anywhere.

“Eliminating the geographic restrictions for job candidates means that the talent pool for many organizations will be exponentially larger as a result,” writes Rebecca Henderson, CEO of Randstad Global Businesses. “Without the need to have employees physically present, companies can source, engage, screen and hire from anywhere.”

An expanded, more global supply chain also means that companies might have a bigger chance in finding niche skill and will “have more racially, ethnically, culturally and generationally diverse candidates to choose from.”

To fully benefit from a global talent pool, companies should review their talent acquisition, employer branding and talent marketing strategies, and acquire local market knowledge in locations where in-demand workers are based.

“Businesses that capitalize on this change and use it to catapult their talent search will be better prepared for the new normal of work in the future,” concludes Henderson.
