Today, many independent workers and
freelancers have the opportunity to find work
directly through an HCP on a contract or
project basis, regardless of their particular tax
classification. These various platforms — such
as freelancer management systems (FMS),
on-demand platforms, and online marketplaces,
for example — can serve as the company's own
pool of talent, reaching directly to freelancers
without necessarily involving staffing agencies
for contingent workers or suppliers of statement
of work (SOW) talent. The FMS can also now
integrate with a company's vendor management
system (VMS) to become a part of, not an addition
to, the organization's talent supply base.
This broader access to talent is particularly
important as today's available talent increasingly
embraces freelancing as a career path by choice.
The flexibility of work is appealing across all
generations and life stages, including those who
are in or near retirement, parents returning to
work, millennials and Gen Z, for example.
High-skill workers, who often value new and
challenging projects over continuous
employment at the same company, may also
favor flexible work arrangements.
Likewise, changes in healthcare and benefits
options and the support of associations can
encourage flexible work arrangements, and HCP
technologies are providing ease of access to
new opportunities for flexible workers.
a complete workforce strategy.
