business confidence increasing competition for talent.

October 31, 2016

As economic conditions improve and workforce trends change, many organizations are both optimistic and cautious

On one hand, human capital leaders see opportunities to grow and leverage technology to improve talent management. At the same time, these changes will surely drive up competition for talent, especially for the skills organizations will need for digital transformation.

In nearly every country, talent scarcity is among the top three challenges respondents are concerned with for the next 12 months. The functions most likely to encounter scarcity are marketing, IT, sales and talent acquisition.

Finally, in an interesting year for politics, human capital leaders believe having a stable political climate will be critical to maintaining business growth ahead. While some leaders believe it can lead to great opportunities, others expressed deep concerns about the impact of Brexit on the global market.

Three takeaways

  1. Many organizations will be looking to hire because they expect global economies to expand
  2. As economic activity picks up, employers may want to consider alternative types and sources of talent to satisfy their business needs
  3. Employers increasingly view companies outside of their industries as competitors for talent.
