Many companies are struggling to fulfill their talent needs. As scarcity rises and as the world of work rapidly evolves, talent leaders face an incredibly complex task of delivering the resources needed by their businesses. Success requires market intelligence, gap analysis and expert guidance — all of which are provided in the Randstad Sourceright 2016 Talent Trends Report, our most comprehensive look at workforce trends and the pulse of the talent leadership community.

We’ve identified 30 global workforce trends and their potential impact on your company. How are new regulations affecting gig workers and their employers? We explain in the report how it will impact your business. Are you moving toward an integrated talent management model? Our data shows it will drive greater strategic outcomes for your business. Want to leverage analytics to strengthen your talent strategy? Learn how with expert advice from our thought leaders.

This looks to be a highly dynamic year with challenges and unique opportunities for every organization. Your leadership will be pivotal to winning and retaining the talent needed to power your company forward. Knowing what to expect and how to address these cutting-edge trends will be critical to forming and executing an effective talent strategy in the year ahead and beyond. To do so requires you to navigate these trends and implement leading best practices for managing talent.

How do your peers stay ahead of the competition? To find out, we surveyed nearly 400 talent leaders around the world on a range of topics, from their ability to attract talent and their plans for upskilling the workforce in times of increasing workforce automation, through to data-driven talent strategy and the integrated talent imperative. Key observations include:

  • Overwhelmingly, 82% of business leaders have made talent acquisition a priority. It’s not surprising considering talent scarcity is at the top of the agenda in many boardroom conversations.
  • More than half have increased their use of contingent talent. We believe that portion will continue to grow for the foreseeable future as “gig working” becomes the new normal mode of working.
  • 85% say creating work flexibility is key to attracting talent with the traditional 9-to-5 schedules becoming a thing of the past.

Overall, today’s HR and business leaders affirmed what we have observed all along: winning talent is becoming more challenging, and you must consider innovative ways to attract, engage and manage every kind of talent. We need to move thinking beyond the traditional talent silos of permanent and contingent workers to “what talent do we need to get the job done,” no matter how they are employed. In this new world of work, dynamic investments in employer branding, analytics and recruiting strategies will be key to becoming an employer of choice. Reskilling and upskilling talent can also help alleviate some of the difficulties stemming from scarcity, but you need a complete understanding of your workforce needs down the road to keep up with your business strategy and play a critical role in growth. That’s where the 2016 Talent Trends Report comes in.

In addition to in-depth examination of trends and opinions, we’ve provided winning tips to help your organization build sound tactics. Want to create greater engagement among Millennials? Create a more entrepreneurial culture. Looking to build a stronger leadership program? Measure your efforts to support continuous improvements. Is retention an issue for your company? Enhance your messaging around employee benefits. We’ve provided many great best practices geared toward optimizing your talent strategies in the report and hope you can make good use of our advice.
