initiative aims to reduce youth unemployment through collaboration between industry and educational institutions

Randstad Holding nv has announced the launch of the European Pact for Youth at CSR Europe’s Enterprise 2020 Summit. The pact is a pledge from EU and business leaders on the joint delivery of jobs, growth, and investment for young people in Europe.

As one of its co-sponsors, Randstad Holding helped draft the pact with special endorsement from King Philippe of Belgium, Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, and Martin Schulz, president of the European Parliament.

According to the pact’s sponsors, decreasing youth unemployment and enhancing Europe’s human capital now and in the future are its main goals. It plans to help younger workers develop the skills required to survive in a new world of work. This is not only the responsibility of individuals but also of companies, educational institutions, governments, and policy makers. Collaboration among all the parties is one of the most effective ways to prepare young workers for quality jobs and to decrease the current skills mismatch in Europe.

“It is important that young people are equipped with the relevant set of skills that can help increase both their employability and companies’ competitiveness. The Big Data solution developed by Randstad France gives better prospective information to young people regarding the real shortage in the market and helps them make the right decisions by providing better insight to get the best start on the labor market,” said François Béharel, a member of Randstad’s executive board.

He was among a panel of chief executives at the pact’s launch ceremony hosted by Marianne Thyssen, the European Commissioner of Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour Mobility.
